Trygve - My future dishwasher

This is a typical morning as I try to do the dishes. Trygve loves to pull things out of anything he can find like trash cans, drawers, and shelves...but he especially loves the dishwasher! As soon as I start doing them, you can hear his excited panting as he toddles at full speed to the kitchen. It's pretty tough though to get frustrated at a face like that! I only hope he shows as much enthusiasm for dish washing as he gets older and mom makes him do them for real :).

Dylan's Birthday

Dylan turned the big 8 this past week. We had decided on a Star Wars themed birthday party at the park and of course at that time it was about 80 degrees. Well....it rained so we ended up changing the plans to good ol' Chuck E Cheese. I think he was secretly pretty happy about the sopping wet park :) .
He had about 7 of his closest friends there to celebrate. My Star Wars cake. He informed me that he didn't want a Star Wars cake...he wanted Star Wars: The Clone Wars! Don't they both use light sabers??? I was a little disappointed with my creativity on this one...not my best work :). Gee...I wonder where Dylan get's his need for perfection from??? Although after he saw it he said...I quote.."You're the best, Mom!" Ahhh....music to my ears! I guess he didn't mind that it wasn't my best :).
Luke's quote for the day..."I love Birthday parties!" It sounds much better when he says it.Tryg tearing it up with the skiball. I think he may have beaten me. Sorry Dad.....he apears to be right handed :) A couple nights later we did a mini birthday party with just family. He got the book 'Journey to the Center of the Earth' which he seems to love. He literally read it as he walked to the car this morning for school, as we drove, and I finally had to tear it away from him so he wouldn't be late for class. It's pretty common for us to have to tell Dylan more than once to put down a book because we have to go somewhere or it's time for dinner. As parents I guess we could have bigger problems :). He loves to read!
He also got a new batting helmet. Little league starts next week!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY DYLAN!

Luke and Tryg's Valentine Party

So Luke and Tryg got invited to their first official "party". It was a Valentine Party that a lady in our ward does every year for toddlers. They looked so cute, I had to take some pictures.Since the party was just down the street, we walked and Luke insisted on pushing his little brother. Well....this little party was quite elaborate and very Martha Stewartish. She had a total food spread for both kids and adults complete with heart shaped sandwiches, crackers, and jello. There were little tables set up for kids and printed agendas! The theme was 'Bees' so Bee my Valentine was plastered everywhere...very cute. This is the kind of party that can make you feel very inadequate because your not as "crafty" :) After lunch, the next thing on the agenda was crafts. They decorated these little wooden bees with hearts and glitter glue. Tryg was just the right size for these tables to completely make a mess of things, while having a great time.
.....he especially liked sucking on the glitter glue bottles and throwing all the foam hearts all over the ground.
Next on the agenda....a 'Bee' parade
Then it was time for games. The kids took turns holding on to the net while other kids tried to throw the heart bean bags into it. Luke got a bit upset when they tried to take the hearts out of his net :). He figured possesion was 9/10 of the law.
Each child had a chance to decorate their own bag so they could carry all the loot (i.e. valentines) that they were about to get. It was like Halloween all over again. Finally, the moment they were all waiting for.....the pinata! As you can see from this video, not a lot of damage Luke could do with this feather light pink plastic bat.
So...the adults had to finally rip the pinata open and as you can see Luke got the brunt of it...
It was definitely past naptime :)

Trygve learns to walk

Well...technically we like to say he started walking before he turned one but he's just now starting to get the hang of it.

Happy Birthday Trygve

It was a year ago last Friday that this little guy came into our lives. He was by far my easiest ... a planned c-section, which is definitely the way to go if you've had the labor from you no where like me:). He came out "spraying" rays of joy :) and has entertained us everyday since. Happy Birthday Trygve! Luke was very excited that it was Trygve's birthday and was eager to help him with his presents....until Tryg opened them and Luke decided they were his. Tryg was not about to give in so easily. Mom's homemade wrapping paper. A couple of helpful big brothers. Trygve's birthday cake made by yours truely. I'm quite proud of my 3 layer lemon dinasaur cake. Lemon is my favorite. I've decided that until my kids can tell me what kind of cake they like, they will get lemon :)....Dylan is having chocolate next week for his birthday :(. Since Tryg doesn't quite understand the blowing out the candles thing, Luke gladly stepped in to help his little brother. I'd say the bib is fitting for the occasion. Grandma Olson wisking Tryg away for his post-cake cleaning. It was a fun night!
